Hi Chris

Just a few points re Saltwater fishing have read your bit in the Mag when you went to Spain saltwater fishing.
i am going to stay with a friend for 3/4 months in Spain and would like to do a bit of Saltwater fishing just a few points
Could not see what type of line you were using would it be better to get a Saltwater line
also i have travel rod 9ft 6/7 weight would that be ok or would you suggest getting some think bit heavier?
would use a Greys x.flite reel that i have
any help would be great
thanks for that and Happy New Year

Hi Dave,

And happy new year to you too.
The tackle you mentioned is fine for Spain. I fished with a Greys Missionary 6/7wt travel rod and a Cortland 444 floating line, ie a standard trout fly line. I have bought some dedicated salt water fly lines but cannot determine any difference between them and fresh water lines. Even with air temps of 35c and sea temps of 30c the Cortland (and Orvis, Snowbee lines) performed perfectly well.
3 to 4 months eh? You lucky devil. Best of luck.
