Even though I live in Sweden I am a big fan of FF & FT. And since every number of the magazine is filled with spots you have to fish before you die I have now started to plan fishing location nr 1.

Ok, so if you had a rather limiited budget, but still wanted to experience some great trout fishing, where would you go, and stay? Im flying from Sweden so any fishery located rather close to an airport is a bonus smile

Thanks in advance for any help.

Whats your target species Richard. The Blackwater in Co.Cork has some excellent Salmon fishing. If its trout you’re after then the Kells Blackwater in Navan is a great spot. The lakes are a bit hit and miss lately so I would avoid most of them. Co.Kerry would be the best bet if you really want to give it a go.

If you won’t to fish for Brownies in Scotland, give Scourie ago, in this months FF&FT;, pretty decent prices and AMAZING fishing for wild fish, you could also try fisheries, fly to Glasgow airport and there are loads of fisheries round about, Swanswater in Stirling is also good for newbie fishing Scotland, with fish up to and over 15lb ( Rainbow Trout) If it’s Ireland then I recommend Lough Melvin, near Bundoran, great brownie fishing, not sure where you can fly to, plenty of places to stay though, anymore info just reply back.

I’ve never stayed in Kells town Richard so I cannot recommend somewhere to stay. The clubs webpage is listed below. One of the contacts there should be able to give you all the info you need.

Alternatively you could try the River Suir. Its probably one of the best rivers in Munster for Brown Trout. Give Andrew a shout at Clonanav and he’ll be able to get everything sorted.

Can you fly to Inverness? Sutherland has some wonderful trout fishing. Lots of famous fishing hotels (Inchnadamph for instance) or you could try http://www.lochassyntlodge.com
