Hi,
I’d like to know when we can expect the mullet back into the estuaries in the North Wales?

Hi Ian,
Mullet should be present in the estuaries by now. They come in-shore once water temperatures reach 9c and begin to feed when temps exceed 10c.
For the first month or so the Mullet feed principally on micr-organisms found on algae and weed. Once other types of food (such as invertibrates) become available as the water gradually warms, the Mullet will then switch on to these, giving the fly fisher an increased chance of success.
Good luck with the grey ghosts.

Hi Colin, Thanks for the reply. Been out looking but not seen anything significant yet. I have a good spot near the Braint already checked out so I’ll go again one evening this week.
Cheers IanB
