Hi Colin,
Have just found this site and am hoping to go Salt water Fly Fishing in the next couple of weeks. 2 of us fancy a trip out but we would like to maximise the chances of catching something. Travelling is not a problem.
As an aside I saw a large fish leave the water alongside Farlington marsh wall?? bass?

Looking forward to find a suitable spot, have read with interest some of the other posts.
Kind regards
David

Hi David. The fish you saw at Farlington could have been a Bass, as they occasionally jump but was more likely to be a Thick Lipped Mullet.
Living in the Pompey area means that you are spoilt for suitable spots. Try the mouth of the River Hamble by the shingle spit (east side of the river)as the tide floods, its usually good for a few Bass to start you off. Try a Clouser or Deceiver and let the fly drift with the current before retreiving.
Best of luck. Keep us posted
