The Wild Trout Trust’s (WTT) annual eBay and postal auction will take place between March 6-15. This year's auction contains 200 lots to suit all pockets and interests, including shooting, artworks, books and tackle as well as fishing. Guide prices start from £15.
One particularly interesting lots is the prototype hexagraph salmon rod, (left), developed and owned by Hugh Falkus, and which Huge gave to FF&FT's Malcolm Greenhalgh.
Fishing lots include wild trout fishing in rivers and lakes throughout the UK, including the Wessex chalkstreams. Much of the fishing is exclusive and donated by private clubs and syndicates and many lots include guiding by professional guides, river keepers and fishing writers or by enthusiastic and knowledgeable club members.
Lots donated by FF&FT writers include:
•
Charles Jardine, River Test
.
• Jeremy Lucas, River Eden
.
• Colin MacLeod, saltwater fly fishing.
•
David Wolsoncroft-Dodds, fly fishing for pike.
• David Southall, Pickering Beck and Yorkshire Derwent
.
• Peter Hayes, River Wylye
.
• Stuart Crofts, Yorkshire streams

Hardy Greys has donated one of its new limited edition Jubilee reels (see photo, above), which the company has produced to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the 140th anniversary of Hardy Bros., and marking 100 years since the introduction of the ‘1912 pattern check’. Based on the 1912 check system, this reel is hand assembled by Hardy Master Reelmakers at Hardy Bros in Alnwick. Aluminium bar stock 6061 series frame and spool with a red agate line guard set in a handmade nickel silver housing. The reel has a commemorative engraving on the winding plate and is presented in a hard black leather horseshoe reel case.
In addition, artist Sam McDonald has donated an exquisite image of trout head in pewter, gold leaf and brass (see photo, above).
The money raised in the auction supports the Wild Trout Trust‘s excellent work in delivering practical advice and habitat improvement projects with clubs and owners, as well as programmes such as Trout in the Town and sea trout projects in East Anglia and on the South Coast.
