SPIDER
FRY
- Hook:
Wet fly, 6-12.
- Thread:
Black or white.
- Tail:
Cock pheasant tail fibres.
- Body:
Flat pearl tinsel wound over luminous painted shank.
- Body
hackle: Buff-grey-olive henny-cock.
- Rib:
Fine silver wire.
- Front
hackle: Claret or scarlet, 1 turn.
- Cheeks:
Jungle cock eye feathers.
Impressionistic
stickleback for trout, chub, perch, pike etc.
GLASGOW
RANGERS
- Hook:
Treble fly, 12-16.
- Thread:
Black.
- Butt:
Fluorescent magenta floss (or orangey red).
- Body:
Silver lurex, or holographic).
- Rib:
Fine oval silver tinsel.
- Hackle:
Black hen.
- Wing:
Fibres from a blue vulturine gallina feather (or
blue cock).
A
fly for clear low water conditions, and slow pools in
a wind.
JACK'S
BASIC MIDGE
- Hook:
finest dry fly, 16-22.
- Thread:
finest brown.
- Abdomen:
stripped quill or pearl mylar.
- Thorax:
Olive or black herl.
- Hackle:
Short fibred black or furnace cock.
- Wings:
Blue dun cock hackles, tied 'wonderwing'.
A
dry midge designed for rainbow trout lakes, that will
catch any trout that is eating midges. A Jack Norris
fly.
