Following last year’s hugely successful trip to Trysil in Norway, FF&FT readers have another chance to fish with Charles Jardine as he returns to target the big grayling of the Trysil area as they rise to the river’s annual Mayfly hatch.

The camp is one of the first to employ USA-style drift-boats for fishing in Norway, and the trip has been timed to coincide with the peak of the Mayfly hatch – one of the most exciting weeks on the river.

Trysil lies 200km north of Oslo and is famed for its Danica Mayfly hatch, which brings up the largest Trysil residents to the surface. Trysil grayling range in size from a healthy 30cm to a gargantuan 50cm. They occur alongside whitefish, which range in size from 40-60cm.

Depending on the conditions you will also have a chance to float-tube on some of the many lakes around Trysil. Charles will again be holding fly-tying and fly-casting sessions to fit in with the fishing schedule, which proved popular last year.

You will be staying at Hyttegrend/Trysil fishing centre, and the whole complex will be at the group’s disposal. You will have your own single room and breakfast and dinner will be served in the lodge’s central area.

Itinerary
Saturday, June 25: Fly from London Heathrow with British Airways BA0766 departing at 13.05 arriving in Oslo at 16.10
On arrival you will be met and transferred to Trysil. The drive is about three hours. Dinner will be served on arrival. Stay for seven nights in a single room on full board.
June 26 to July 1: You will enjoy two days’ guided drift boat fishing and four days’ guided walk-and-wade fishing. There will be fly-tying sessions with Charles Jardine in the evening.
Saturday, July 2: You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to London Heathrow with British Airways. BA0767 departing at 16.55 arriving at 18.15
